“We were relieved to find an identity management partner who truly understands health informatics and who can tailor their solutions to meet the needs of the greater healthcare community.”
Patients and Caregivers
Patients and their caregivers want to have access to health information online. They want to see their test results as soon as these results become available. They want to exchange electronic messages with their doctors. They want to fill out hospital admission forms and medical forms for their children’s camp from the convenience of their computers. They want to be able to upload information from their medical devices and to give this information to their clinicians.
Still, patients are cautious about doing health care transactions online. They hear about healthcare fraud, medical identity theft, phishing, and computer theft, and they worry about having their health information moving over electronic networks. Although there are benefits that come with greater movement of healthcare data, there are also potentially severe negative consequences. Patients know that they can face discrimination because of their health status. They have read about those who lost their spouses, their friends, their homes, their jobs, their promotions, and their health insurance when information about their health was leaked. People may shop and bank online, but they know that if money is lost or stolen, it can be replaced. If they lose their health privacy, the damage may be difficult or impossible to repair.
Patients need visible assurance that accessing and moving health information online is secure – every time. At the same time, security measures must not put a barrier between patients and what they want to do, but must easy to use, obvious, and understandable.
Anakam.TFA® Two-Factor Authentication is a revolutionary platform that provides strong authentication to patients and their caregivers using devices they already have for secure access to the online channel. And as more patients are willing to go online, healthcare organizations have greater opportunity to provide them with online services.
