Phishing attack hits Twitter

On February 2, 2010, CNN reported that an apparent phishing attack had surfaced on Twitter. These attacks are designed to steal users password information so that their social network accounts can be mined for other sensitive personal information that may allow hackers to gain access to online banking accounts or other avenues for cybertheft. Twitter released more details about the attack as they became known. As with other similar attacks in recent months, a true two-factor authentication system, along with strong password protection and a dose of skepticism, can protect against these types of cyberthefts.
