San Diego, CALIF. – July 6, 2010 – Edaptive and Anakam announce that the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has selected the Anakam Identity Suite® for the strong authentication of practitioners into sensitive patient data stored in the QualityNet online portal. As part of the national rollout of centralized multi-factor authentication services, Edaptive will integrate the Anakam Identity Suite with the QualityNet Identity Management System (QIMS) to provide trusted access to electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) that must be protected from inadvertent or malicious disclosure in accordance with federal regulations and policies.

The QualityNet initiative supports quality improvement efforts among providers and makes available information that will enable patients to participate in making health care decisions. The first QualityNet application to be protected with the Anakam Identity Suite is CROWNWeb, the Consolidated Renal Operations in a Web-Enabled Network. CROWNWeb will enable facilities that provide dialysis care to patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) to enter and submit patient and clinical quality of care data to CMS as part of the CMS ESRD Quality Initiative. Edaptive will integrate Anakam’s multi-factor authentication solution with CROWNWeb to provide NIST Level 3 Authentication and identity proofing of providers gaining access.
